Welcome to Senet

ElFantasma · Apr 02, 2026

Senet is a platform where board games come to life through code. Whether you’re here to play, create, or just explore — welcome.

What makes Senet different?

Games are code, not cardboard. Creators write game rules in TypeScript and build custom visual interfaces. The platform enforces the rules, handles multiplayer, and lets players focus on playing — not bookkeeping.

Every game is open. Browse the source of any game, fork it, remix it, make it your own. A Chess variant with a 10x10 board? A Quoridor mod with diagonal walls? One click to fork, change what you want, publish your version.

Collaboration is built in. Games aren’t solo projects. A designer writes the rules, a developer implements the logic, an artist creates the UI. Submit changes, get reviewed, iterate together. Like GitHub, but for board games.

Multiple faces, one game. Each game can have multiple visual representations. Prefer a minimalist 2D board? A rich 3D scene? A screen-reader-friendly interface? Players choose their own view — even in the same match.

Real-time, rule-enforced multiplayer. No more “did you really roll a 6?” The engine validates every move. Play in real time with friends or come back later for async games. Invite anyone with a link — no signup required to start playing.

Who is Senet for?

Players — You don’t need to code. Browse the game catalog, find something that looks fun, invite a friend, and play. New games appear constantly as creators build and remix.

Game designers — Got a game idea? Prototype it here. Write the rules in TypeScript, test it instantly, share it with playtesters. No need to build networking, UI frameworks, or servers.

Developers — Love board games and code? This is your playground. Fork existing games, build UI modules, create bots. The SDK is simple: pure functions in, game state out.

UI designers — Create beautiful visual representations for any game. Your 3D chess board, your minimalist Go interface, your accessible card game layout — players choose their favorite.

What’s here now?

The platform is young and growing. You’ll find:

  • 8 playable games including classics and originals — Tic-Tac-Toe, Hex, Stratego, Nine Men’s Morris, Quoridor, Quarto, Onitama, and Connect Four (with a 3D UI!)
  • A full game editor with TypeScript support, live testing, and a collaborative review workflow
  • This forum and blog for community discussion
  • Real-time multiplayer with invite links — share a URL and play with anyone

What’s coming?

Senet is being built in the open. The roadmap includes tournaments, leagues, rating systems, spectator mode improvements, and more community tools. If you have ideas, the forum is the place to share them.
