Place stones on a hex grid to connect your two sides. Simple rules, deep strategy, no draws possible.

Hex

A classic connection game on a rhombus-shaped hex grid.

Rules

  • Two players take turns placing stones on empty hexagonal cells.
  • Red connects top to bottom. Blue connects left to right.
  • The first player to create an unbroken chain connecting their two sides wins.
  • Draws are impossible — someone always wins (mathematically proven).

Swap Rule

If enabled, after the first player places their opening stone, the second player may choose to swap — taking that stone as their own instead of placing a new one. This balances first-player advantage.

Strategy

  • Control the center — it gives you more connection options.
  • Build bridges — two stones separated by one hex can often be connected regardless of opponent’s play.
  • Look for double threats — force your opponent to block in two directions at once.
